00490.40 General <br />(ADD) Manholes, sumps, inlets, valve boxes and other structures shall not protrude <br />more than 2 inches above adjacent surfaces open to traffic. Lower as required to <br />meet this specification. When manholes, sumps, inlets, valve boxes and other <br />structures protrude more than 1 inch, but less than or equal to 2 inches, above <br />adjacent surfaces open to traffic, place temporary WMAC or HMAC transitions <br />around the structures. Millings from cold plane pavement removal shall not be <br />used to construct these transitions. <br />00490.46 Adjusting Manholes <br />(c) Raising Tops of Manholes <br />(ADD) Some of the wastewater and storm water manholes requiring adjustment will <br />require replacement of the frame and cover. The Engineer will locate the specific <br />manholes in the field. <br />Aluminum frames and covers identified for removal and replacement shall be <br />salvaged and will remain the property of the City of Eugene. The Contractor shall <br />deliver salvaged aluminum frames and covers to City of Eugene Public Works <br />Maintenance, 1820 Roosevelt Blvd., on.. normal Working days, between the hours <br />of 7:30 am and 2:00 pm. The Contractor shall call 541-682-4838 one (1) business <br />day prior to delivery to coordinate with City staff. <br />00490.48 Adjusting Boxes, Cleanout Lids and Similar Structures <br />(ADD) Adjust water valve boxes in accordance with EWEB specifications attached. <br />00490.90 Unit Basis <br />(ADD) The bid items FRAME/COVER-WW" and FRAME/COVER-ST" are for material <br />and procurement costs only. Removal and replacement of manhole frames and <br />lids shall be performed during the manhole adjustment operation and payment <br />for this Work shall be included in the applicable bid item for adjustment of <br />manholes. <br />Payment for items (a) and (d) shall be payment in full for all Work required at <br />each location, including lowering, regardless of the number of separate <br />operations performed. <br />00620.40 Pavement Removal <br />(d) Pavement Removal Alternative <br />(DELETE) The sentence beginning "Longitudinal drop-offs... <br />(ADD) Longitudinal drop-offs of more than two (2) inches require a wedge. Traffic shall <br />not be allowed to cross drop-offs of more than two (2) inches until wedges are in <br />place. At intersections, drop-offs of more than one (1) inch require a wedge. <br />Wedges shall be constructed of temporary WMAC C-or HMAC, and shall be <br />incidental to other work.
