d. Any processed material that has not been compacted and finished shall not. be
left undisturbed for longer than 30 minutes. •
e. Mixing shall begin as soon as possible after the cement has been spread and
continued until the product is a uniform mixture of pulverized asphalt, base
aggregate, soil, cement, water and meets gradation and moisture content
requirements throughout the full design depth and width.
f. The final mixture shall be pulverized to conform to section 00642.10
requirements.
g. The final pulverization test shall be made at the conclusion of mixing operations.
h. Cement shall not be placed on the grade more than 500 feet in front of the mixing
equipment.
2) Cement Stabilizing Agent, Curing:
a. After completion of final finishing, the surface shall be cured by application of a
- bituminous or other approved sealing membrane It shall be applied as soon as •
ossible .but not later than 4 hours after com letin finishin
p ~ p g g operafions. The
surface shall be kept continuously moist prior to application of curing material.
b. For bituminous curing material, the FDR base surface shall be dense, free of all .
loose and extraneous materials, and shall contain sufficient moisture to prevent
excessive penetration of the bituminous material. The bituminous material shall
be uniformly applied to the surface of the completed cement treated material.
Bituminous curing material shall be CSS-1 h or CRS-1 h applied at an application
rate of 0.20 gallons per a square yard of surface.
c. Apply sand cover immediately after application of bituminous curing material
sufficient to prevent pickup of the curing material
00642.45 Shaping and Surface Tolerances -Unless otherwise specified in the contract
documents, the grade of the compacted stabilized reclaimed mat shall be finished to within one
half (1/2) inch of the existing centerline and grade or as directed by the Engineer. Surface
smoothness shall comply with 00641.45.
As compaction nears completion, if necessary or as required by the Engineer, the surface shall
be lightly scarified oc broom-dragged to remove imprints left by equipment or to prevent
compaction planes. Compaction shall then be continued until uniform and adequate density is
obtained. During the finishing process the surface shall be kept moist by means of water spray
devices that will not erode the surface. Compaction and finishing shall be done in such a
manner as to produce a dense surface free of compaction planes, cracks, ridges, or loose
material. All finishing operations shall be completed within the time limit specified in 00642.43 a)
1).
Excess FDR material remaining after finish grading shall be windrowed onto the gravel shoulder
area for use as reclaimed base aggregate in shoulders. The reclaimed shoulder material shall
be spread uniformly throughout the project and shall be supplemented, when necessary, with
aggregate shoulder materials as directed by the Engineer. Finishing of the shoulder materials
shall be according to the applicable requirements of Section 00640.
00642.49 Compaction -The Contractor shall perform initial rolling with a tamping foot roller
until the roller pads walk out of the reclaimed mix. Shaping, to achieve planned profile and cross
slope, should cut deep enough to remove the tamping foot roller marks. Repeated reclaiming

and rolling may be required within two calendar days after the initial mixing processing and
rolling to achieve the target density on the completed in-place recycled surface. The Contractor

shall discontinue any type of rolling that result in `cracking, movement, or other types of distress
until such time .that the problem can be resolved. If there is a significant change in mix
proportions, weather conditions, or other controlling factors, the Engineer shall require

Special Provisions --Job #4624 Page 9 of 15
