Labor
00642.30 Quality Control Personnel -Provide certified technicians in the following fields:
• CEBT
• CAGT
• CDT
Construction
00642.40 Seasonal and Temperature Limitations -
The Contractor shall not perform reclaiming operations when the weather conditions are such
that proper mixing, shaping, and compacting of the reclaimed material cannot be accomplished.
00642.41 Pre-Reclamation Conference -Supervisory personnel of the Contractor, including
any subcontractors who are to be involved in the reclamation work, shall meet with the Engineer ~
at a mutually agreed time to discuss methods of accomplishing the work. A representative of the
' Contractor responsible for the.quality control on the project shall also attend.
00642.42 Preparation - Prior to initiating the reclaiming operation, the Contractorshall clear all
vegetation and debris within the width of pavement to be reclaimed. Removal of this vegetation
and debris from the project shall be in accordance with standard ODOT procedures.
00642.43 Pulverizing and Mixing -Reclaimed Base material shall be placed in a single lift.
During reclaiming operations, the Contractor shall apply the stabilizing agents to the pulverized
material at a rate that will achieve all of the mix design criteria. The Engineer may vary the
application rate of stabilizing agents as dictated by changes in the existing pavement conditions.
The Contractor shall determine the amount of additional water needed to facilitate uniform
mixing with the stabilizing agents and achieve a stable reclaimed layer at or above the minimum
specified density. The water maybe added prior to or concurrently with the stabilizing agents.
Adding water to facilitate uniform mixing shall not adversely affect the stabilizing agents.
a) Portland Cement Stabilizing Agent -The Portland Cement stabilizing agent shall be
controlled within ± 0.50% of the target established by the mix design. The specified
quantity of stabilizing agent shall. be applied uniformly in a slurry and in a manner that
minimizes dust and is satisfactory to the engineer. If multiple passes of the equipment
are required to reclaim the pavement material to the desired width, a minimum 6 inch
overlap shall be used. The application system shall be capable of adjusting for the width
of recycling reclaiming such that overlapped mixture maintains•the designed Portland
cement agent residual content.
1) Cement Stabilizing Agent, Placement:
a. The time from cement placement on the pulverized material to start of mixing
shall not exceed 30 minutes.
b. The time from first contact of cement with water to application on the pulverized
material shall not exceed 30 minutes.
c. The operation of cement application, mixing, spreading, compacting, and

. finishing shall be continuous and completed within 3 hours from the start of
mixing.
Special Provisions -Job #4624 Page 8 of 15
