Water Production Additions & Improvements -Project No. 14270
Capital projects for Water Production Additions and Improvements are derived from both the
Water Supply. Plan and Facilities Planning efforts. The Water Supply Plan promulgated the
Hayden Bridge Expansion Study, which was completed Summer of 1999. The expansion study
recommendations and costs are included in the Supply Plan Section of the CIP.
In conjunction with the Hayden Bridge Expansion Plan, EWEB also conducted a seismic study
of the existing plant to evaluate the structural integrity of the plant. This study provided an
estimate of useful life remaining (50 years) of the treatment plant, and recommend upgrades in
areas that will be included in the 5-year capital plan.
1 reatment Ylant
Additions 2003 2004 Inns 2nn~ ~nn~ ~nnz ~nn~ ~nnn .,,,,..
Filter Rebuild
Pro ram
N-5 Filter Rebuild $220,000 $220,000
S-4 Filter Rebuild $200,000 1,400,000
S-5 Filter Rebuild $200,000 $200 000
S-6 Filter Rebuild $200,000 $200,000
Hayden Bridge
S stem U rades
Seismic U grades $145,000 $145,000
UV Disinfection
S stem
$200,000
$1,898,000
$2,098,000
South Bank Filter
Structural U ade
73,000
$518,000
$591,000
HB Mechanical
Evaluation
$72,600
$72,600
HB Emergency
Generator
$140,000
$.140,000
HB Alum Tank
U ades
$44,300
$44,300
Total Production $549,900 $1,263,000 $ 0 $200,000 $1,898,000 $5,110,900 $ 0
Project Descriptions:
Filter Rebuilds
Hayden Bridge is currently rebuilding the existing twelve filter beds constructed in the 1950s and 1970s.
Occasionally, existing under drain plates will break, causing filter media to be displaced. Other filter beds were
rebuilt in the late 1970s. The rebuilds consist of removing old filter media and under drains, repainting the
walls, constructing and installing efficient under drain-systems, and replacing the media.
Water Division -Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan
7
