The results of the rebuild have shown a higher efficiency in particle removal rates and longer run times <br />between backwashing. In conjunction with sedimentation basin baffling, the rebuilt filters are anticipated to <br />achieve an additional 1 mgd of production per filter. All recommendations for structural and seismic upgrades are presented in the <br />Hayden Bridge Expansion Plan. Top priorities were structurally repairing the south filter bank constructed in <br />the 1970s and adding pipe supports throughout the' plant to prevent pipe failures during a seismic event.
