ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT: • Provides administration support to all operations • Manages payroll functions • Oversees personnel records • Provides data entry • Handles purchasing functions and billing activities • Prepares and administers budget • Provides clerical support • Provides the support functions to the Parks and Open Space Division • 8.5 FTE are assigned to this work unit (7 funded by PWM, 2 funded by POS) SURFACE TECHNICAL TEAM • Administers right-of-way programs • Administers pavement management program • Supports planning for infrastructure management • Administers small maintenance contracts • Operates and maintains tools and supply stockroom • Provides on-site network and computer technical support for Maintenance Division • 8 FTE are assigned to this work unit SURFACE MAINTENANCE • Oversees maintenance of 616 miles of sidewalks and pedestrian ways • Maintains all concrete curb and gutter • Maintains over 5,810 sidewalk access ramps • Maintains and repairs concrete alleys, streets, bicycle paths, storm basins, and inlets • Builds and maintains emergency barricades and bike path bollards • Maintains 489 miles of paved street surfaces • Maintains 30 miles off street and 89 miles on street bike paths, 5.5 miles of pedestrian ways • Performs fall leaf pickup • Performs winter road sanding and snow removal • 17 FTE are assigned to this work unit TRAFFIC OPERATIONS SECTION: Traffic Operations includes three work units with focus on safety, right-of-way management, and maintaining, enforcing, administering and providing the technical support to the traffic infrastructures systems. They are as follows: SAFETY COORDINATION • Administers safety program for the Roosevelt Yard (PWM & POS) • 1 FTE TRAFFIC MAINTENANCE • Maintains approximately 25,701 traffic signs • Maintains 13,000 feet of guardrail • Maintains all yellow curbs, lane markings, crosswalks, on-street parking stalls, and 480 lane- miles of striping • Parking meters; performs new installations and removals as necessary • Installs traffic signs and pavement markings for new streets Facilities Master Plan -January 2004 III-3
