7. The steam cleaning area is too small to service large trucks without causing obstructions and <br />safety problems from extended outriggers. <br />8. Asphalt lacks strength to support weight of larger vehicles (particularly fire apparatus). <br />9. The facility does not meet requirements to work on alternative fuels like natural gas. Fleet <br />Operations is federally mandated to introduce alternative fuel vehicle technology. <br />10. The Facility's fuel service area is not sufficient in size to accommodate mandated alternative <br />fuel dispensing such as natural gas. <br />11. The workspace is inappropriately configured for both supervisors and service writer function. <br />Fleet Parts <br />Fleet Parts is situated at the eastern end of Building #1. There are 3 FTE assigned to Fleet <br />Parts work unit. These employees are housed in the same general area as the mechanics and <br />maintain inventory of fleet parts. There is one main workroom that is used for their main support <br />duties. This office work area is very cramped and needs to be expanded for existing staff and <br />future growth. The major portion of their area is used for parts storage. The growth of the fleet <br />over the past 10 years has made this storage area inadequate to effectively and efficiently <br />manage inventory. Since storage space is at a premium, stock levels are kept at a minimum <br />causing repair delays and results in individual versus bulk purchases that are more expensive. <br />Radio Maintenance <br />Radio Equipment Maintenance is comprised of 5 FTE which reside in Building #14. <br />BUILDING TWO <br />Building #2 primarily houses two conference rooms, the main kitchen facilities, Urban Forester, <br />Tree Planning supervisor and technical staff, Traffic Technical staff, Surface Operation Section <br />Manager, Open Waterways Supervisor and staff, Surface Technical supervisor and staff. <br />CONFERENCE ROOMS <br />There are two conference rooms in Building #2 which can be combined into a single `theater <br />style' conference room with a seating capacity of 170. <br />MAIN KITCHEN FACILITY <br />Includes full kitchen facility. <br />i.l <br />URBAN FORESTER <br />The Urban Forester occupies an office space. The Urban Forestry Technician and the <br />- Vegetation Technician currently share an office. <br />TREE PLANNING SUPERVISOR AND STAFF <br />The Tree Maintenance and Planning Supervisor occupy an office in building #2. There are three <br />Urban Forestry Technicians each occupying an office cubical (#017, 018 & 020). A mechanical <br />and storage room (#023) is being used by Urban Forestry for the Street Tree Inventory Program. <br />TRAFFIC TECHNNCAL STAFF <br />~-, There is five Traffic Technical staff located in Building #2.
