Comments and Responses, September 26, 2000 Public Hearing in Eugene
T1.7-Because the new federal
courthouse for the
Eugene/Springfield area has not
yet been designed, detailed
information cannot be presented
in the photo simulations shown in
the EIS. The photo simulations
are intended to convey a general
sense of the appearance of a large
structure the size of the proposed
courthouse at each of the
alternative sites. At this time, it is
not possible to provide a greater
level of architectural detail.
T1.8-The proposed federal
courthouse would be situated to
conform with the zoning
requirements for the chosen site.
Additionally, the site alternatives
that are located within a
floodplain zone (Alternatives 3
and 4) have been eliminated from
further consideration. All of the
potential building footprints
shown in the draft EIS place the
structure more than 60 feet from
any river.
T2. James Torrey, Mayor,
Eugene, Oregon
T2.1-Three sites in Eugene were
considered in the draft EIS as
potential locations for the
proposed federal courthouse and
the Chiquita (formerly Agripac)
site in Eugene has been selected
as their preferred alternative.
Tronscetpt 1
T1.6 f 1 helpful. It's not the nCtuat bulltlin9• That hasn't even
5 been tlssignod yet. This was just a composite ,lust so rre'd have
0 something to show.
7 So Sf anyone misinterpreted that that's what the
8 building is going to look like, LnaL'6 not Lha Caaa.
T1.7 4 NR. BIGGS: I Ouaas I was looking for photo
10 simulations that would give roe a sense of it being a landmark
11 building, easing it from coming into the city and hors it would
iz play tent war.
T1.8 113 Another concern that I have that I faf led to
14 mention was the setback from the Millanatta River. I hooa that
16 it could be increased from 34 feat to 64 feet. Thank you.
ld NR. NEERSCNEIDT: ThanK yOU. Nayor Jim Torrey.
T~•1 17 NR. TORREY: Jim T-o-R-R-E-Y.
