- In the 2004 update, several significant changes that changed the look and feel of the Roosevelt
Yard are documented. A major event was the fire in the fall of 1995, which resulted in damage
to a large section of Building #1. The damage occurred in the front office area and adjacent
spaces, and minor smoke damage occurred through out the rest of the structure. Several new
land acquisitions occurred along the western portion of the Roosevelt facility. All of the
residential lots along Crane Lane were purchased and cleared over a period of a few years. The
Westward Trailer Park on Garfield Street was purchased in 2002. These purchases were
identified in previous master plans.
j
The Parks and Open Space Division was created in 2001. However, most of the staff and
equipment were already physically located at the Roosevelt facility. Several programs were
transferred out of PW Engineering Division and into the new Division. This resulted in several
smaller improvements to the site, such as the temporary modular (Building #21) and a
reconfiguration of existing office spaces in Building #2 and #6. In 2003, PW Maintenance went
~ through an internal re-organization as a result of the elimination of PW Transportation Division.
Several programs and staffing changes were absorbed into PW Maintenance, which again

'i required reconfiguration of existing office spaces. Anew Prox security system was installed at
the Roosevelt Yard as a result of the implementation of the Citywide Prox system. Also, the
existing gate systems were updated to the new and improved access gate control system, which
coordinates with the Prox system. At this time there are 82 FTE's in the Parks and Open Space
Division and 134 FTE's in the Maintenance Division for a grand total of 216 FTE's working at the
~ Roosevelt facility.
ti
1~
Facilities Master Plan -January 2004 II - 3
