3) Is there anything you would change about the concept design?
^ Hold the bridge until later.
^ Maybe create vegetative buffer in between Amazon Road and the bark running
trail
^ How to protect trees when they are included in dog park. Maybe an oasis for
trees, shrubs, other critters.
^ I would definitely. not expand the dog park- it already is big enough for dog run
but needs to be given certain rest times during the year.. Placing the fence closer
to the path and up the hill will add additional chain link views rather than seeing
the trees or greenery.
Native fields and grasses will fail to provide a visual screen. Plant more trees
and shrubs. No ballfield- stadium lights are sure to follow. Open up the
culverted creek. Make dogpark smaller.
^ Eliminate, modify bridge.
^ I would like to see the ash woodland abut the jogging path, in order to provide
shade and form a better connection with the riparian corridor. Also aesthetic
improvements/ vegetation on the Amazon Parkway jogging trail.
^ The bridge design is lovely, but what is the purpose of the bridge at this location?
^ Not at this point, though I might want to review the placement of the final signal
on Hilyard that will hopefully and eventually have an accessible pedestrian
device included. The mid-block crossing that currently exists may be more useful
if placed nearer the Hilyard Center itself, as there are many people with
disabilities using that light and crossing zone.
^ I would include an Interpretive exhibit with activities to enhance empathy for the
natural world.
^ Arrange to share restrooms at LTD Park and Ride. This would be especially
important for those using the dog park.
^ I don't favor all the dogs, but I'm sure dog lovers love it.
^ No. Well thought out plan.
^ Add more water stations, dog pools, lights.
^ Not really, but I'm not sure. how tennis court lighting relates to natural resource
category.
^ No,
4) What do you like best about the concept design (what should not be
changed)?
^ Restrooms and improved picnic areas adjacent to the playground.
^ .The new creek crossing, prairie enhancements and boardwalk through the
wetlands.
^ The zig zag bridge and the inclusion of the APD at the Hilyard street crossing.
^ A raised boardwalk is great. Wheelchairs could access it. Maybe exhibits in
Braille too or a rope to follow for sight impaired and to turn on our senses.
^ .Bridge design.
^ Path connections. Bridge across the creek.
^ Multi-use field and restroom for the playground. Expansion of the dog. park also
addresses an overuse situation.'
^ I like the idea of a new footbridge. across Amazon creek with a wooden
boardwalk through the ash forest. I am also in favor of having the Adidas running
Amazon Park 7/26/2004
:Workshop 3 Questionnaire Results Page 3
