CITY COUNCIL GOAL: Police Initiative <br />Increase police staffing with a special focus on supporting community <br />policing and reducing property crime. <br />Contact: Robert Lehner, Chief, Eugene Police Department, 682-5102 <br />Linda Phelps, Staff Lead, 682-6308 <br />Reporting period: January -March 2007 <br />An interdepartmental team has been assigned to work on the new City Council Goal: <br />Police Initiative <br />Increasepolice sta~ng with a specialfocus on supporting communitypolicing and reducingpropery crime. <br />Team members include: <br />• Randy DeWitt, Fire Department <br />• Kristie Hammitt, Court Administration <br />Becky Hopkins, Human Resource and Risk Services <br />• Kent Kullby, Planning and Development <br />• Kitty Murdoch, Budget <br />• Captain Pete Kerns, Police Patrol <br />• Captain Steve Swenson, Police Operations Support <br />• Captain Chuck Tilby, Police Investigations <br />• Division Manager Lynn Reeves, Police/Fire Technical Services <br />Melinda Kletzok, Police Public Information <br />• Terry Smith, Police Planning <br />--Executive Manager is Robert Lehner, Chief of Police <br />--Staff lead is Linda Phelps, Police Planning <br />The team has met and begun formulating the draft Council Goal Action Plan for presentation to the <br />Mayor and City Council, tentatively scheduled for May 29, 2007. We expect to receive the final <br />version of the Magellan staffing study report by that date and intend to distribute it in advance of <br />the May 29`s meeting to the City Council with the Agenda Item Summary and draft Action Plan. <br />-22- <br />
