FINAL 2008-2011 STATEWIDE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
General Comments:
• One comment was received thanking us for our presentation. Comments were made in sup-
port ofthe US 199 Expressway Upgrade project in Grants Pass. Comments were also made
in support of the bridge improvement projects in Ashland and for the need to fund improve-
ments on OR 62 in Medford.
Discussions•
• Discussions evolved around the congestion and crashes on US 199 in Grants Pass. The fa-
talities have been widely publicized. Much of this has resulted from new developments and
numerous road and driveway connections to the highway. Highway 62 was discussed as be-
ing highly congested and in need of significant modernization. Improvements on OR 62
should be considered all the way into Eagle Point.
MEDFORD (2), June 16, 2006
22 attendees
General Comments:
• Most comments were around the US 199 Expressway Upgrade project and the South Y Junc-
tion, both in Grants Pass. Citizens were generally supportive of the project, but wanted a lot
of project or design specific details. Recognition of the South Y Junction in Grants Pass as a
significant bottleneck was also commented on.
Discussions•
• Most of the discussion was specifically on the US 199 project details. The Grants Pass
newspaper made this meeting appear to be more on the project itself than on funding for the
entire area. As such, most of the attendees were from the Grants Pass area. Citizens wanted
to be involved and were generally supportive of doing something to alleviate all of the
crashes and fatalities. Some interest was also expressed on the Ashland area bridge replace-
ment projects. Attendees were interested in incorporating context sensitive design solutions,
particularly on the interchange 14 structure in Ashland.
ROSEBURG (2), November 14, 2006
22 attendees
General Comments:
• Comments were mostly around the Winchester interchange, Diamond Lake Blvd @ Stephens
Street improvements, Rolling Hills Road Signal on OR 42, and the passing lane on OR 42
west of Winston.
Page 375
