FINAL 2008-2011 STATEWIDE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
TILLAMOOK, October 23, 2006
12 attendees
General Comments:
• Anonymous: Water accumulates across US 101 south of Rockaway near Spring Lake.
• Bill Dahlign, Property Owner in Tillamook: Wants to know why contact/communication
(for ROW) is so slow.
• Norm Myers: Need to install a solar phone on OR6 in the Elk Creek area and MP 20. There
is a sign with a number to report road conditions, but no cell service. The Tillamook County
Traffic Safety Committee maybe willing to sponsor/endorse.
• Anonymous: STIP funds need to be put toward repair of the Neahkahnie Rock Wall. There
are homes below the wall.
Discussions•
• Anonymous: Trucks are losing loads on the sharp curve on US 101 at Fishery Point between
Wheeler and Rockaway. Suggests installing electronic signs showing speeds to slow trucks
enough to make the curve.
• Anonymous: ODOT should revisit the US101 Manzanita/Neahkahnie Mountain pass lane
project in north Tillamook County. There are virtually no passing opportunities.
• Anonymous: Would like to see more passing opportunities on US 101 between Wheeler and
Rockaway.
E-Mail Comments Received:
• Georgia Becknal: Inquired about passing lanes on US 101 in north Tillamook County. Also
questioned effectiveness of double line striping because it tends to cause driver frustration.
SEASIDE, October 24, 2006
15 attendees
General Comments:
• Gary Debolt: Intersection at 101 and Wahana in Seaside, plus the bridge with a curve in it,
has to be one of the most dangerous intersections in the state. Isn't "safety" a priority?
• Leonard Hoge and K. Henry: Supports a TSP for Seaside -soon. Requests safe crossing
sidewalk improvements at or near Avenue G and US 1 O 1 in Seaside.
• Bernie Thomas: Requests dedicated left-turn lanes on 12th Street at its intersection with
US101 in Seaside.
• Three individuals requested ODOT evaluate lane widths at 12th Street and US 101 in Seaside.
• Dave Langlo: Wants to have the intersection of US 101 and Lewis and Clark evaluated for a
traffic signal installation or other potential interim measures.
• Anonymous: The US 101 at Lewis & Clark intersection is a huge safety issue. Only a matter
of time until a serious accident/fatality occurs.
Page 371
