PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT <br />~~; <br />LIABILITY CLAIMS ' <br />The Public Works Department incurred 47 liability claims in FY07. This <br />is slightly lower than the five year average of 50 claims filed annually. <br />The total incurred claim costs for FY07 are $68,058 which is slightly <br />higher than the five year average of $61,651. Thirty-eight of the 47 <br />claims filed in FY07 have been resolved; 17 claims were closed without _ <br />payment and nine were closed with payments of less than $500. The <br />largest claim payment in FY07 was $5,000 for damage caused by a <br />sewer back-up that originated in the City's line.
