Oregon OSHA Compliance/Consulting Activity <br />After no interaction with OR-OSHA in FY06, OR-OSHA conducted a ~~ , E ,~; . <br />comprehensive .Health and Safety Compliance Inspection of the Police <br />Department in the first half of FY07. The inspection resulted in 5 OSHA <br />citations but the total penalty was less than $300. EPD appealed one of the <br />citations related to handling sharps (syringes and needles) and negotiated a settlement with OSHA outlining when <br />employees must use engineering controls to pick up sharps. Safety/Loss Control staff worked with EPD staff. to <br />abate the other hazards. <br />OSHA Consultation provided assistance with defining the required.
