This is the sixth consecutive year that the City has <br />received a safety award. The award is based upon the number of lost time injury cases per 100 ~;- ~: <br />~~ ~~' <br />employees. ~,,,. <br />Insurance Marketing Manual Wins National Award <br />~' _ In June 2007, the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) awarded the City's Risk Service Division with a <br />first place award for Outstanding Achievement for a Public Risk Management Product for the 2006 Insurance <br />Marketing Manual. The Insurance Marketing Manual is a comprehensive portfolio of information. developed <br />annually by Risk Services staff to assist the City's insurance broker in the marketing of the City's insurance <br />program. This concise, easy to use document enables insurance underwriters to efficiently evaluate the City's <br />risk exposures and helps the City get the best possible insurance coverage at competitive rates. <br />The Insurance Marketing Manual includes information about the City organization, the Risk Services program <br />and staff, exposures to loss, insurance history, claim history, statutory obligations, safety and loss control <br />programs, and employee training. The manual is compiled by Risk Services staff with the assistance of staff <br />throughout the organization. A copy of the 2007 Insurance Marketing Manual is available on the. City's website, <br />www.eugene-or.gov/riskservices . <br />Eugene Fire & EMS Department Earns International Accreditation: The Eugene Fire & EMS <br />Department has been awarded accredited agency status by the Commission on Fire r.~"'"°'""`" ~, <br />Accreditation International, successfully culminating two years of work toward that goal in <br />2006. The process leading to accreditation began with a comprehensive self-assessment <br />process by a team of department staff who researched, described, assessed, and docu- .ee <br />mented how the agency addresses each of 47 criteria and 255 performance indicators ~'~"•n•s'°°'v <br />including risk management and safety. An on-site visit was conducted by afour-member peer assessment team <br />assigned by the CFAI. Eugene Fire & EMS now stands among just 105 fire service agencies worldwide that have <br />achieved this level of accreditation. Accredited agency status is valid for afive-year period, with the completion of <br />annual compliance reports. <br />Public Works Department Earns APWA Accreditation: The Public Works <br />Department culminated a two year effort in 2004 and achieved accreditation through the ,~ ~ <br />American Public Works Association becoming the first APWA accredited agency in Oregon. <br />A major component of the accreditation process focused on the Public Works Safety <br />Program. <br />
