EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br />In FY02, the City formally established and staffed an Emergency Management <br />Program that is responsible for the development, implementation,.: and evaluation <br />of the City's emergency preparedness program. The mission of the City of <br />Eugene's Emergency Management Program is to prevent or minimize, prepare <br />for, respond to, and recover from emergencies or disasters that threaten life or <br />property of the citizens of Eugene. <br />Emergency Management staff completed several projects in FY07 to better <br />prepare the community and the organization to respond to and prepare for <br />disasters, they include: <br />• Completed update of the City of Eugene's Emergency Plan <br />• Assisted in the continued development of interoperable communications for Eugene Police, Springfield Police, <br />Lane County Sheriff's office, EWEB and seven counties in central and southwestern Oregon. <br />• Provided National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command ~~;-~~'°t~~~~U}~ <br />System (ICS) training for employees. i <br />-~ ~~~~"~ <br />• In co-operation with community volunteers and the Eugene. Fire/EMS Department, <br />conducted Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Trainings _- <br />• Participated in emergency exercises: ~ <br />- Lane County Public Health Table Top Exercise <br />- Radiation Tabletop Exercise <br />- Eugene Police Campus Table Top Exercise <br />- NW Regional Community Emergency Response Team Exercise <br />• Secured Grant Funding: Assisted Police and Fire/EMS Departments in successful application for funding <br />from the State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSP) & the Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention <br />Program (LETPP) <br />17 <br />
