Oregon OSHA Compliance/Consulting Activity <br />The City of Eugene works with Oregon OSHA as part of a proactive approach to safety in the workplace. The <br />OSHA Compliance Division conducts random workplace safety audits and investigates accidents and <br />complaints filed by employees. Risk staff provides <br />assistance with OSHA Compliance Audits in <br />responding to questions and in preparing corrective cny°'E°~e"e <br />action plans if needed. If a complaint is filed, Risk staff $ OSHA Compliance/Consulting Activity <br />will work with the involved work group to ensure that any <br />necessary corrective action is taken. <br />s <br />The City uses the services of the OSHA Consultation <br />Division for assistance in reviewing specific safety 4 <br />issues and for assuring that various safety programs <br />meet OSHA requirements. <br />z <br />The City had nine interactions with the Oregon OSHA <br />Compliance and Consultation Divisions in FY07 D <br />compared to three in FY06 as shown in the graph on the <br />right. <br />Fire/EMS entered into a Partnership Agreement with the <br />OSHA Consultation Division in FY06 and continues to <br />work toward their Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) certification. The Wastewater <br />Division continued to work with the Consultation Division toward completion of the SHARP certification they <br />began working on in FY05 and is targeted to complete the program in late 2007. <br />FY07 compliance activity included a comprehensive Health & Safety Compliance Audit of the Police Department <br />and a compliance review of the City's Safety Program as required for self-insured employers. OSHA <br />Consultation activities were conducted for the Hult Center (2), Public Works Maintenance (2), Parks & Open <br />Space, Police Training, and the Fire/EMS Department. <br />Training Activity <br />The Safety & Loss Control Manager is a certified OSHA 503 Outreach Instructor. Safety training is offered to City <br />employees and includes the following topics: Hazard Communications, Accident Investigations, Hazards <br />Analysis/Safety Inspections, Respiratory Protection & Fit Testing, Leadership Safety Principles, Ladder Safety, <br />Leadership Safety Principles, Silica Safety, Fire Safety & Fire Extinguisher Basics, Asbestos Safety, and <br />Introduction to the City Safety Program. Total <br />miles driven were up from 3.28 million in FY06 to <br />3.32 million in FY07.
