The City of Springfield plans to construct a multiuse .path to <br />connect the Thurston area of East Springfield to the McKenzie Levee Path that parallels : <br />42"d Street. The path corridor is in an environmentally sensitive area because of its proximity to <br />the McKenzie River. A regional. route determination .and NEPA study must be done to select the <br />~~ route for the path and. to determine what type of mitigation or enhancement will be appropriate. ~ \' <br />--- <br />EDUCATION & PUBLIC HEALTH <br />~ ~ <br />Springfield Public Schools Academy of Arts and Academics <br />Springfield Public Schools (SPS) requests $600,000 to support the full implementation of the ~ ~ ' <br />Academy of Arts and Academics (A3). A3 is a small, academically rigorous high school with an , <br />emphasis on the arts.. A3 is atop-priority project for the .district and community because. it <br />targets traditionally underserved students and represents a key component in the revitalization ~ ' -` <br />~ - of downtown Springfield. A3's program provides challenging, personalized learning that <br />prepares .all students for college. The requested funds will be used to provide the equipment, <br />expertise, and training essential to A3's long-term success. Health Centers. `~ <br />Community Health Centers of Lane County. (CHCLC) seeks $500,000 to expand the physical r <br />', capacity of its four-year-old clinical facility in Springfield, Oregon.. The clinic provides primary ; <br />and preventive care, mental health, and dental care for low-income, uninsured, and. <br />'~ <br />underinsured residents of Lane County. Since RiverStone Clinic opened in 2003, the demand <br />for services has far exceeded original projections.-The space leasing. arrangement continues to <br />consume operating .resources that. would better be applied to patient care; the over-crowded, <br />makeshift facilities also compromise the quality and efficiency of the. care..provided.
