Milton Park <br />Phase: Project complete <br />Construction of park renovations at Milton Park are complete. Improvements include new paths and <br />sidewalks, a new playground, a new basketball half-court, new trees, shrubs and lawn, and benches, tables, <br />bike racks, trash receptacles, and unique art tiles. A park reopening celebration is planned for June 15, 2005. <br />More information about the park is available online at www.ci.eugene.or.us/parks/planning/MILT~ark.htm <br />Oakmont Park <br />Phase: Project Complete <br />The construction of Oakmont Park was completed in November 2003. The park has been very popular, <br />especially among parents and young children. Improvements include a picnic area, children's playground with <br />sand, water play and artwork, an informal basketball court (which doubles as a small amphitheater), a <br />retaining/seating wall, park paths, irrigated turf, new trees, sculpted earthwork, a jogging trail, and two acres <br />of restored upland prairie habitat. Additional funding was allocated to complete two crosswalks providing <br />safer pedestrian and bike access from the park and the neighborhood to the Oakway Center. A grand opening <br />celebration, attended by about 200 people, was held in July 2004. <br />Shadow Wood Park <br />Phase: Project complete <br />Skyview Park <br />Phase: Project complete <br />Sterling Woods/Creekside Park <br />Phase: Initial planning <br />Trainsong Park <br />Phase: Construction complete <br />A grand opening celebration was held in June 2004. <br />A happy camper at Trainsong Park <br />Walnut Grove Park <br />Phase: In progress <br />Construction of Walnut Grove Park is anticipated for 2006. Priority improvements include fencing off the <br />protected habitat area for the endangered western pond turtle, which will allow park users access to the <br />remaining portion of the park site. Plans to develop the adjacent low-income housing site are under way, and <br />staff is coordinating with the developers on a street system which will serve the park and the development. <br />Street construction is anticipated for 2005. <br />RIDGELINE PARK EXPANSION <br />Although the majority of funds earmarked for <br />ridgeline expansion have been expended, <br />additional purchases are being evaluated with <br />several parcels currently in negotiation. The Amazon Headwaters trail will connect the Amazon greenway to the Ridgeline Park along one of. <br />the-headwaters of Amazon Creek.
