the right-of--way. <br />Street Trees: <br />(a) The construction plans shall show location, size, and species of all street trees within <br />the length of the proposed project. The plans shall accurately depict the areas of the <br />work zone which may impact street trees. The critical root zone shall be shown for <br />all street trees 8" dbh and larger. <br />(b) If work will impact more than 30% of the critical root zone of street trees 8" dbh or <br />larger, a certified arborist report shall be required documenting the existing condition <br />of the tree and an evaluation of its ability to survive the proposed work. <br />(c) A tree preservation plan shall be required showing how all street trees shown to be <br />retained are to be protected. <br />(d) The critical root zone for trees 3 inches or smaller in caliper shall be an area with a <br />radius of at least 3 feet from the trunk. The critical root zone for trees over 3 inches <br />in caliper shall be an area with a radius of at least eighteen inches from the trunk for <br />every 1 inch on caliper size. <br />(This is typically shown by reports or plans developed by an arborist certified by the <br />International Society of Arboriculture which documents the condition of trees proposed for <br />preservation or removal and makes recommendations for effective protection during <br />construction.) <br />9. Private Trees: The construction plans shall show all trees 8" dbh or larger on private <br />property where proposed work within the right-of--way will impact more than 30% of the <br />critical root zone: A certified arborists report shall be required documenting the existing <br />condition of the tree and evaluation of its ability to safely survive the proposed work. If the <br />arborist report shows the tree either will not survive construction impacts or those <br />construction impacts will leave the tree in a hazardous condition the applicant must obtain <br />written permission from the private property owner to allow the tree to be removed. <br />2.H.5 Plans and Drawings <br />Applications for a permit shall be accompanied by such drawings, surveys or plans as deemed <br />necessary by the City Engineer. EC 7.305 <br />Generally, the permittee shall be required to supply two sets of complete and accurate plans and/or <br />drawings depicting the proposed facility installation. Three copies will be made to allow one each <br />for the Inspector, the office file of the permittee and the permittee's field crew performing the work. <br />All plans and/or drawings shall contain a north arrow.
