Displays in public spaces <br /> may have religious content without being or becoming an endorsement by the City if the <br /> display has a business purpose and the purpose of the display is to convey other <br /> information. <br /> ~ RELIGIOUS ATTIRE <br /> I <br /> ~ Required Religious Attire <br /> I <br /> 1. The Cit will accommodate reli ious attire or ersonal oomin standards that are <br /> Y g p g <br /> ~ required by an individual's religion, unless there is a compelling business reason the <br /> accommodation cannot be made or the attire implies an endorsement of a specific religion <br /> by the City. <br /> Non-requared Religious Attire <br /> <br /> i <br /> 1. City work units have the right to establish reasonable dress and grooming standards <br /> which will apply consistently to religious attire, unless there is a required <br /> accommodation. <br /> 2. An expression of religious belief placed on personal attire will be allowed to the same <br /> extent as expression on attire of other` protected speech is allowed so long as the viewing <br /> public would reasonably understand the religious expression to be that of the employee <br /> acting in the their personal capacity, and not that of the City's. <br /> 3. Employees who work with youth or other vulnerable populations or those involved in <br /> enforcement activities, should refrain from wearing attire that has an overt expression of <br /> religious belief when working with the public. <br /> RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS <br /> Time Off Work <br /> 1. Employees will be allowed to take time away from work to observe religious holidays, <br /> unless there is a bona fide need to have the employee work. <br /> 2. For those holidays which are not currently observed by the organization, employees <br /> should notify their supervisor of the request at least two weeks in advance of the holiday. <br /> The advance notice provides time for the supervisor to find voluntary substitutes for that <br /> employee or to develop a flexible scheduling plan. <br /> 3. Continuous operations may require a greater amount of notification and in some <br /> circumstances, may not be able to accommodate the employee's request. <br /> 4. Employees must use a floating holiday or personal leave for this time off. <br /> 5. Employees who have designated holidays and do not celebrate the Christmas holiday, <br /> must still take the day off as a holiday unless the supervisor approves the employee taking <br /> <br />
