Maintenance <br /> The morning of March 30, the Maintenance Division (PWM) staff and the Parks & Open Space (POS) <br /> Division staff held their annual Safety & Training Day event. A continental breakfast started the event, <br /> followed by Awards & Accomplishments for PWM staff. <br /> PWM staff discussed safety issues and received safety awards. Staff working the entire year without a <br /> lost time accident was recognized. Staff reaching safety record milestones in 5 year increments were as <br /> follows: (5 year award) Brandon Beyerlin, Bruce Gouveia, Mike Middaugh, Rick Perrott, and Damon <br /> Jo ner• (10 ear award Bill Buterbau h John Raish Dou Schmitt H Neet Sandi McConke and <br /> Y ~ Y ) g > g ~ an'Y ~ Y~ <br /> Les Morris; (IS year award) Rick Blakeslee, Bob Edmiston, Larry Sidwell, and Bill Ranney; (20 year <br /> awards) Ron Chapman, Kandy Hanes, Paul Fager, Jim Glover, and Paul McNamara. <br /> PWM employees were recognized by their peers for many accomplishments. Robert Earl received the <br /> Innovation award for designing a more back friendly device to lift catch basins; John Compton received <br /> the Go Getter award for his high productivity and knowledge of the new fleet software system; Rick <br /> Perrott and Sandy Francis received the Innovation award for designing a jig to quickly set a manhole ring <br /> and covers to street grade; Corey Youngren received the Great Attitude award for performing those less <br /> desirable tasks with hard work, acan-do attitude, and a smile; and Sandi McConkey received the Creative <br /> Reconciler award for her ability to work with internal and external customers and programs on complex <br /> issues and resolve them, while maintaining the respect of her colleagues and customers. <br /> PWM staff also attended a variety of training electives. Afterwards, everyone participated in a very lively <br /> presentation by Leigh Ann Jasheway-Bryant speaking on "Every Time I Get With the Program, Someone <br /> Changes the Channel: Laughing Our Way Through Change at Work." Those who were there will never, <br /> ever forget the memorable tango. <br /> To cap off this event, two very deserving employees were recognized by their respective divisions as the <br /> 2003 Employee of the Year. Rocky Paakaula was recognized by the Maintenance Division. <br /> The Search for the PWM Employee of the Year <br /> Good attitude <br /> Hard working <br /> Enjoys life <br /> Rocky! ! <br /> I'll take care of it <br /> Hauoli (Happiness) <br /> Laulea (Peacefuly, happy) <br /> Laulima (Cooperation) <br /> Waipahe (Good natured) <br /> Congratulations Rocky Paakaula (pah a kow la) <br /> PWM Employee of the Year 2004 <br /> Carolyn Weiss was recognized by the Parks and Open Space Division. <br /> Fleet and Radio Communication Services hosted an employee appreciation celebration on Thursday, <br /> March 25. Key Fleet and Radio Technicians were awarded Certificates of Appreciation by the City <br /> Manager for their outstanding efforts in achieving various professional certifications in their respective <br /> industries. Following the celebration, numerous Executive Managers and Fleet Advisory Board Members <br /> toured the Fleet and Radio facilities. <br /> <br /> March 2004 PW Monthly Report 4 <br /> <br />
