City of Eugene <br /> Human Resource and Risk Services <br /> <br /> 3-231 Weapons Policy <br /> The City of Eugene is committed to providing a safe working environment for all City <br /> of Eugene employees. In order to meet this goal, the City of Eugene prohibits <br /> employee possession of any dangerous weapon, while on duty or at any other time <br /> while in a City owned or controlled building, job site or vehicle. As defined in ORS. <br /> 161.015, dangerous weapon means any weapon, device, instrument, material. or <br /> substance which under circumstances in which it is used, attempted to be used or <br /> threatened to be used, is readily capable of causing death or serious physical injury, <br /> unless such possession is authorized by the City in the performance of the <br /> employee's job duties. This policy takes precedence over an employee's permit to <br /> carry a concealed weapon. <br /> This policy applies to all City of Eugene employees except those having specific <br /> statutory and agency authority to possess the above weapons in the performance <br /> of their job duties. Pepper mace is not prohibited under the policy, however, <br /> employees other than Police Services personnel are not authorized to use pepper <br /> mace in the performance of their job duties. <br /> Any questions about the intent or application of this policy should be directed to <br /> Human Resource-and Risk Services. <br /> 3-232 Workplace Violence Policy v <br /> Policy Statement: <br /> The City of Eugene is committed to maintaining a safe work environment free of all <br /> forms of violence for all City employees, agents of the City, and our customers. This includes, but is not limited to, <br /> verbal threats or intimidation and physical intimidation, assault or battery by an <br /> employee, former employee or any visitor to a City workplace. Workplace violence <br /> may also include destruction or abuse of property. <br /> <br />
