i <br /> t <br /> Working Hours and Overtime <br /> If you are a represented employees, you will need to refer to the appropriate contract <br /> provisions in addition to fhe information below; specific contract provisions may differ <br /> from these policies. (APPM Sections 3-300 & 3-320) <br /> ~ Regular Work Hours <br /> As a full time employee, you are expected to put in a full day on the job. This means being on <br /> the job at the designated start time and staying on the job until the end of the shift. Shift times <br /> are designated by your supervisor and may be changed as necessary to facilitate the work. <br /> ~ If you wish to work a different schedule, discuss your proposal with your supervisor. Requests <br /> for an alternative work schedules may be approved if departmental operations and public <br /> service requirements are not adversely affected. If you are afull-time employee on an <br /> alternative work schedule, you must still work 40 hours per week and you will have specified <br /> times for beginning and leaving work. It may include an early or late starting and quitting time, a <br /> <br /> ~ 4-day, 40-hour work week, or other variations which meet individual and departmental needs. <br /> j Your alternative work schedule is subject to periodic review. If the arrangement is not operating <br /> ' efficiently, you will be required to return to a normal, work schedule. <br /> Breaks and Meal Periods <br /> You receive a 15-minute rest break during each 4-hour half shift (or 5 hours on a 10-hour shift). <br /> Skipping these breaks does not entitle you to work less than your scheduled daily hours. <br /> Breaks may not be added to extend your meal period, and you may not use your break time and <br /> meal period to come in late or leave early. <br /> i <br /> ' Depending on your job, you are provided with a meal period of either thirty (30) minutes or one <br /> (1) hour per eight-hour shift. Your meal period is unpaid as long as you are relieved of all <br /> duties. <br /> General Overtime Guidelines <br /> If you are a confidential (non-represented) employee and work in excess of 40 hours per work <br /> week, you will receive overtime for all hours above 40 hours. You will be compensated in cash <br /> <br /> j or compensatory time off at 1:1.5 times your regular rate of pay for overtime hours worked. You <br /> may elect to be compensated in cash or compensatory time off. <br /> If you are an exempt(non-represented) employee you are overtime exempt. You receive a fixed <br /> salary for all hours worked'and an additional Management Vacation benefit. If you area full- <br /> time employee, this refers to any work in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. If <br /> you are apart-time employee, this refers to work in excess of your scheduled part-time work <br /> hours.. <br /> Compensatory Time Accrual <br /> Your maximum compensatory time accrual is 80 hours, except in emergency situations and with <br /> you Executive Manager's approval.
