E-mail may not be used to solicit to other public or private organizations. <br /> Informal solicitation for charitable and non-profit organizations not meeting all of the <br /> above criteria is only appropriate using break, lunch hours or other non-work time and <br /> may not include the use of e-mail or other City resources. Examples include political <br /> fund raising or selling raffle tickets or candy for a fund raiser. Some employees have <br /> formed work teams to take part in the United Way Day of Caring, using vacation or other <br /> i F r more information on olitical activit see APPM 3-213. Su ervisors <br /> non-work t me. o <br /> Y p <br /> P <br /> and managers should avoid any form of solicitation or selling to subordinates as it maybe <br /> perceived in a negative way. <br /> 3-217.4 Memberships <br /> In order to create closer partnerships and networks with the community it maybe <br /> advantageous for certain City employees to attend meetings and functions of selected <br /> civic, social and non-profit organizations and in some cases, become members of those <br /> groups. Reimbursable membership expenses for the purposes of this policy are broadly <br /> defined to include membership fees or dues, meals at meetings, registration fees for <br /> special trainings or conferences put on by an organization, and the cost to attend fund <br /> raising events sponsored by an organization. A request to attend meetings and functions <br /> or to become a member of one of these or anizations and get reimbursed for expenses <br /> g <br /> must meet all the following criteria: <br /> ? It should have a clear connection and/or alignment with City services, Council <br /> oals and olicies etc. <br /> g p <br /> ? It may be a requirement of a job or assignment. <br /> ? It should have a clear connection to the employee's job. <br /> ?
