City will not be liable for any expenses resulting from doctor's verification if <br /> the employee has abused the sick leave benefits. <br /> 26.8 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES <br /> a. Full-time employees who are absent from work for three (3) working days <br /> or less due to non-occupational illness or injury in a fiscal year will <br /> receive eight (8) hours of holiday credit. Employees who are at the <br /> accrual limit of nine hundred sixty (960) hours and who qualify for the <br /> holiday credit will receive an additional eight (8) hours of holiday credit. <br /> This benefit will be pro-rated for part-time employees based on the <br /> average hours per day during the prior fiscal year. The bonus holiday <br /> credit must be used by the end of the first pay period in the following <br /> fiscal year. <br /> <br /> i <br /> <br /> i <br /> b. An employee receiving a bonus holiday may request to be paid for it <br /> during the month of .August. Such requests will be considered by the <br /> supervisor within the department's budgetary and service requirements. <br /> c. Effective July 1, 2002, the bonus leave credit will be changed from <br /> holiday credit to vacation credit. <br /> 26.9 PART-TIME EMPLOYEES <br /> Part-time employees with a regular work schedule will code sick leave hours <br /> I; according to the scheduled hours to be worked per day. Part-time employees <br /> without a regular work schedule will code sick leave hours based on the <br /> standard hours per day designated in the payroll system <br /> ~ 26.10 The supervisor must be notified as soon as possible before or at the beginning <br /> of the scheduled shift when an employee needs to use sick leave, unless the <br /> supervisor gives different directions or the employee has made a concerted <br /> effort to contact the supervisor and has been unable to do so. The employee <br /> shall be expected to provide the notice personally. <br /> 26.11 In the event the City believes that an employee's sick leave absences are <br /> affecting her/his performance, the supervisor or manager will give written <br /> notification to the employee, with a copy to the Union, requesting a meeting <br /> to discuss the concerns. The Union and the City agree to work jointly and <br /> constructively to correct patterns of high rates of absenteeism. <br /> Article' 27 <br /> FAMILY MEDICAL AND PARENTAL LEAVE <br /> 27.1 Employees may take family medical or parental leave as provided under the <br /> federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) and under the state of <br /> AFSCME contract - 43 - <br /> <br />
