- Article 25 <br /> SAFETY AND HEALTH <br /> 25.1 The City acknowledges an obligation to provide a safe and healthy <br /> environment for its employees, and agrees, to do so in accordance with any and <br /> all applicable local, state, and federal laws pertaining to health and safety. <br /> 25.2 The JLMRC shall maintain a Safety and Health Subcommittee to discuss issues <br /> of mutual concern and make recommendations to the City Manager and <br /> nd health of Ci em to ees. The <br /> ty ty <br /> Executive Mana ers re ardin the safe a p y <br /> g g g <br /> committee shall be composed of an equal number of City and Union represen- <br /> tatives, not to exceed eight (8) persons. The Union representatives shall be <br /> selected by the local Union. <br /> <br /> i 25.3 The Safety and Health Subcommittee shall function as provided in OAR 437- <br /> 40-047 and 437-40-048, and shall develop its own goals and work plan of <br /> activities. <br /> 25.4- To the extent required by law, a Union and City representative of the Safety <br /> and Health Subcommittee will be allowed to be present on any safety <br /> <br /> ~i inspection conducted under the auspices of the State Occupational Safety and <br /> Health Division or its successor. <br /> 25.5 In the event an employee feels that a work assignment may constitute a danger <br /> to her/his health or safety, the employee must notify her/his supervisor as soon <br /> as practicable. The supervisor shall make a determination as to whether the <br /> work shall continue. If the problem is not resolved to the employee s <br /> satisfaction, s/he may raise the issue to the City's Loss Control/Environmental <br /> Program Manager. Employees may at any time file a complaint under the <br /> procedures of the Oregon Safe Employment Act or its successor. <br /> ° Article 26 <br /> SICK LEAVE <br /> 26.1 To reduce the financial burden of time off due to non-occupational illnesses <br /> and injuries, employees accrue sick leave at the rate of ninety-six (96) hours <br /> for each full year of service. Sick leave will accrue each bi-weekly pay period <br /> based on hours of work and paid leave time coded. There is a limit of nine <br /> hundred sixty (960) hours on the. amount of sick leave time that can be accrued. <br /> 26.2 Sick leave may be used for personal illnesses and injuries, family illness as <br /> defined below in 26.5, or for qualified family and parental leave under state <br /> and federal law. It may be used in conjunction with Article 21, Industrial <br /> Accidents and Illness and Article 28, Long-Term Disability. Sick leave may <br /> AFSCME contract - 41 - <br /> <br />
