a single vacation period on the vacation schedule established by the <br /> department. If senior employees do not exercise their right to request the same <br /> ` days off within a reasonable period of time, the supervisor may approve the <br /> time off. If a conflict occurs between approved, scheduled vacations, and <br /> <br /> ~ senior employees scheduling days off outside of the vacation schedule, <br /> <br /> ~ employees with approved vacations will be given preference. In case of <br /> involuntary transfer, no employee shall lose a previously approved vacation. <br /> 19.7 Employees who have fifteen (15) or more years of continuous service shall <br /> have the option of cashing out a maximum of forty (40) hours of accrued <br /> vacation when a minimum of for 40 hours of vacation are taken in that <br /> ( ) <br /> fiscal year. Employees must have a balance of at least eighty (80) hours of <br /> vacation after using the options above. This cash-out may be requested only <br /> once per fiscal year and is subject to availability of funds. <br /> Article 20 <br /> TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT <br /> 20.1 Employees in the classification of Mechanic must supply their own tools and <br /> equipment unless required tools or equipment are unique to the City's work <br /> requirements. Personal tools or equipment shall be in good repair at the time <br /> of employment or when this Agreement becomes effective. The City will <br /> provide any special tools or equipment. The City shall provide a tool and <br /> equipment allowance to Mechanics of twenty dollars ($20) per pay period. <br /> 20.2 The City will replace worn or broken required personal equipment resulting <br /> from normal City usage for Auto Service` Workers and drafting positions. The <br /> worn equipment should be given to the employee's supervisor and a request <br /> made for replacement. Safeguarding required personal tools or equipment will <br /> be the responsibility of the employee and the City shall not be held liable for <br /> the equipment if it is lost or stolen. <br /> 20.3 Employees using City tools or equipment who damage them due to proven <br /> negligence or deliberate act may be required to reimburse the City for the cost <br /> of replacing the materials. <br /> 20.4 The City may require safe work attire. If an employee is required to wear <br /> protective clothing or any type of protective device, excluding garments and <br /> footwear used by employees as items of personal apparel, it will be provided <br /> by the City. The City will provide rain gear, rubber boots, and climbing boots <br /> to employees where reasonably required based upon their. job duties. <br /> 20.5 Employees who are required to wear protective footwear based on their job <br /> duties will be reimbursed by the City up to seventy-five dollars ($75) every <br /> AFSCME contract - 36 - <br /> <br />
