shall receive a fifteen (15) minute break period. employees working tour <br /> (4) hours of contiguous overtime or the major portion thereof (e.g. three (3) <br /> hours) shall receive a meal period in addition to a break period. Meals may <br /> be provided by the City, according to current policy, in unscheduled <br /> overtime situations, when the employee is not provided with enough <br /> advance notice of the overtime to make their own meal arrangements. <br /> Authorization to pay for employee meals during overtime must be made in <br /> <br /> ' advance by the supervisor in charge. Scheduling of break and meal periods <br /> i <br /> will occur in conformance with operational requirements. Compensation <br /> for the meal period shall be in accordance with applicable law and this <br /> Agreement. In callback situations, employees who work two (2) hours and <br /> reasonably expect to work (3) three or more shall receive a fifteen (15) <br /> minute break. Employees who work four (4) hours and reasonably expect to <br /> work five (5) or more shall receive a meal period in addition to a break <br /> period. <br /> g. Phone calls to employees made by the City for the purpose of <br /> questions or inquires on work-related subjects, except calls related to <br /> scheduling, callback, or absences, outside of regular work hours, will be <br /> coin ensated to the closest tenth 1/10 of an hour startin at three 3 <br /> p ( ) ~ g <br /> minutes. <br /> h. Nothing in this Article shall be construed to require overtime payment <br /> at a rate more than one-and-one-half (1-1 /2) times an employee's base rate <br /> of pay. <br /> 17.3 WORK SCHEDULES <br /> a. Work schedules of employees who work in a work crew situation <br /> shall be posted on bulletin boards in conspicuous places available to <br /> employees. Employees who do not work in a work crew situation will be <br /> given written notice of their work schedules. <br /> b. The Union recognizes the City's right to determine work schedules <br /> based on its assessment of operational requirements. The City recognizes <br /> its obligation to avoid, where practicable, work schedule. changes which <br /> result in expressed undue hardship to an affected employee. <br /> c. Work schedule changes of more than two (2) hours will normally be <br /> made only after five (5) days notice is given to the employees and the <br /> Union. The changes will be subject to consultation with the Union and <br /> employees upon request. Work schedule changes of two (2) or less hours <br /> will normally be made only after thirty-six (36) hours notice is given to the <br /> employees. <br /> d. The City may decide in any situation that it deems an emergency to <br /> ~o <br /> <br />
