I <br /> The City of Eugene pay scale is based on a step/merit plan. While an employee maybe <br /> eligible for a step increase, that increase will be based on the employees' previous overall <br /> <br /> i work performance. New employees are given informal evaluations at three and nine <br /> months and written performance evaluations at six months and one year. <br /> PROBATIONARY PERIOD: The probationary period is part of the evaluation process <br /> for determining the qualification of new, promoted, or transferred employees. The <br /> probationary period is 12 months. <br /> FRINGE BENEFITS: Human Resources will provide detailed fringe benefit <br /> information and will respond to any questions you may have at your scheduled New <br /> Employee Orientation meeting scheduled for <br /> EMERGENCY WORK/OVERTIME: Employees are expected to be available and <br /> willing to perform emergency work as required. All overtime must bepre-approved by a <br /> .supervisor. <br /> DRIVERS LICENSE: If a valid drivers license is required for your position, you must <br /> maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard. <br /> DRESS FOR CREWS: Required dress includes shoes that cover the ankles (may require <br /> steel toes), shirt, and pants. Dress should be appropriate for varying weather conditions. <br /> The City will normally furnish rain gear, safety vest, eye/ear protection, and in some <br /> instances, protective gloves. This safety equipment is to be used during work hours only <br /> and must be replaced if they are worn out. Lost, stolen, or unnecessarily damaged items <br /> maybe charged to you. When replacing worn-out items, you will be required to return <br /> the old article of issue. <br /> CONDUCT: You are expected to demonstrate courtesy in dealing with the public. It is <br /> your responsibility to work in a productive and cost efficient manner at all times on your- <br /> . <br /> job. Employees may not accept gratuities of any kind. Horseplay on the job is <br /> prohibited. <br /> TELEPHONES: The city recognizes the occasional need for employees, during work <br /> hours, to make a brief personal phone call to take care of a variety of matters that can only <br /> be accomplished during regular working hours. Personal phone calls made on city <br /> telephones during working hours should be as brief as possible (2 - 3 minutes) and <br /> infrequent (3 - 4 per day). Longer calls are permitted when the employee is off duty or on <br /> break. <br /> Long distance calls are permissible only if the employee is using a personal calling card. <br /> If it is an emergency and the employee dies not have a personal calling card, s/he may <br /> make a long distance call and reimburse the City immediately. <br /> PARHING: Downtown parking information can be obtained by contacting Diamond <br /> <br />
