City of Eugene <br /> Department of Public Works -Engineering <br /> Su ervisor's Check List for New Em to ee Orientation <br /> p p Y <br /> STARTING/QUITTING TIME: Your scheduled work hours are from a.m. to <br /> _~.m. Employees are expected to be ready to begin work promptly at their starting <br /> time. <br /> LUNCH PERIOD/BREAK: Your lunch period will be from to A 15 minute <br /> rest break is allowed each half shift (four hours, or five hours on a ten-hour day). Breaks <br /> may not be added to a meal period or taken at the beginning or end of the work day. <br /> NOTE: City equipment is not to be used for traveling while at lunch or on break. Field <br /> crews are expected to take their lunch and breaks in the field. <br /> TIME AWAY FROM WORK: Time away from work requires supervisor approval in <br /> advance. Supervisors may deny requests depending on workload and other operational <br /> needs (i.e. co-workers vacation requests during same time period..) You are eligible to <br /> use accrued vacation after 6 months of employment. <br /> SICK LEAVE: Sick leave usage is closely monitored by supervisors. Sick leave is a <br /> form of insurance and is provided to reduce the financial burden ofnon-occupational <br /> illness or injury. Sick leave maybe used for personal illness and injuries, for qualified <br /> medical and parental leave, and for medical, dental, and eye exam appointments (with <br /> supervisor approval in advance for appointments.) <br /> ABSENCE/REPORTING IN: Employees (not spouse or family members) are required <br /> to notify their supervisor prior to the start of the work shift if the are unable to re ort due <br /> Y P <br /> to illness or other emergencies. <br /> FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) -PAYROLL TIME SHEET: Federal <br /> regulations require that we keep records of daily hours worked for non-exempt <br /> employees. The Division's time sheet records time in and time out each day, including <br /> any overtime. It requires the employee and supervisor signature which certifies that the <br /> information is accurate. Please review the payroll time sheet with your supervisor and be <br /> sure you are familiar with codes for time worked and any applicable job costing codes. <br /> PAY/COMPENSATION: Paydays are every other Friday. Automatic Deposit is <br /> available. <br /> <br /> NOTE: Use of City vehicles for banking and check cashing is prohibited. <br /> <br />
