Goal of discussion <br /> • To reconfirm a description of the Leadership Academy <br /> goals/objectives <br /> • To develop clear language for applicant criteria <br /> Current program description: <br /> Dynamic The concept of a City of Eugene leadership academy grew from a growing <br /> Management interest in developing our formal and informal leaders in the organization. <br /> and The goal of the academy is to take our supervisor and manager skills within <br /> Leadership the City of Eugene to a new level of competency. This will allow us to meet <br /> Academy future demands on the organization in light of challenges like budget <br /> constraints, changing workforce trends that will impact our employees, <br /> changing demands from those we service in our community. <br /> Using the framework of the 9 supervisor competencies and feedback on what <br /> would be most valuable in supervisor and manager development, we will be <br /> conducting our second 8 month learning experience in FY06. <br /> Program The program will be designed to meet the following goals: <br /> Goals <br /> • Recognize and create strategies to better serve the community. <br /> • Define public service management and leadership and understand how to <br /> apply these concepts in daily work. <br /> • Explore concepts in organizational perFormance management and <br /> accountability both within and outside the organization. <br /> <br /> i <br /> • Develop skills to lead in a dynamically changing environment. <br /> • Increased understanding and development of your personal leadership <br /> skills and style. <br /> • Recognize, create and be part of a valuable leadership network within the <br /> City of Eugene. <br /> Who will be Applications for potential participants will be solicited from each department. <br /> participants We will be seeking participants from various levels of management.
