(REI) team up <br /> ~ to restore Spe cer Butte's trail system as part of National Trails Day. <br /> As m y as 175 volunteers are expected to participate in the effort to restore the popular <br /> i <br /> hiking trail o South Willamette Street. Most volunteers are encouraged to gather at Ida <br /> Patterson Sch ol, 1510 West 15``' Avenue, at 8 a.m. and shuttle to the butte on LTD buses. <br /> Volunteers an hikers who go directly to Spencer Butte Park between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. will find <br /> parking limite or unavailable. Normally, there are about 60 spaces in the Spencer Butte parking <br /> lot, but some f those spaces will be reserved for buses to load and unload passengers and turn <br /> around. <br /> Acces to some portions of the hiking trails will also be limited as volunteer workers haul <br /> gravel, remov invasive vegetation, and construct raised trial beds, drains and waterbars along <br /> two miles of t ail. <br /> Hikers and other area residents who would like to participate in the work party or want <br /> more informa ion about National Trails Day can call REI at 465-1800. <br /> <br /> Public Works • Admi istration • City of Eugene • 858 Pearl • Eugene, OR 97401-2727 • Phone: (541) 682-5262 • FAX (541) 682-6826 <br /> <br />
