Wiidish Construction Co. has been awarded the contract for the paving project designed and managed by the I~Eugene Public Works Department. Work will be done in two main phases: grinding off the top layer of existing pavement using a llprocess called rotomilling; and applying a new surface of asphaltic concrete. Conduit and new sidewalk 'Tramps will be installed at Chambers and 22"d Avenue to accommodate a new pedestrian crossing signal, but no other traffic changes or lane reconfigurations are planned. ~ Most of the work will be done during daytime construction hours, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Work in the I~'vicinity of Chambers and 18`'' Avenue will be done at night, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. At least one traffic lane in I I'~each direction will be kept open on Chambers Street during construction, but motorists are likely to jencounter delays and detours and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Ills This is one in a series of projects initiated over the past several years by the City of Eugene to preserve and extend the life of West 11''' Avenue. Financing for street preservation projects come from ~he City's road fund, which is supported primarily by revenues from the state gasoline tax.
