News Release Paving Projects to Start
September 6, 1996
Page 2
On Coburg Road, one lane of traffic in each direction and a turn lane will be kept open

i
during construction; however, detours will be in effect at times for motorists using Chad Drive

' and Crescent Avenue while those intersections are blocked with construction activity. The work
is expected to be completed by early October.
The third project, resurfacing West 11th Avenue from Tyinn Street to Beltline Road, is
scheduled to start September 19, weather permitting. The contractor on that project, Eugene
Sand & Gravel, anticipates that the main paving activity will take approximately seven days to
complete. Most of the work will be done at night, and police and flaggers will direct traffic at
major intersections.
City road repair funds will be used to pay for the three projects, which total
' approximately $994,000. The City selects streets for rehabilitation projects based on pavement
condition, optimum timing for cost-effective rehabilitation, and traffic volume. Average daily
traffic counts for the streets being rehabilitated this fall are approximately 7,800 vehicles on
Amazon Parkway, 19,560 vehicles on Coburg Road, and 24,200 vehicles on West 11th Avenue.
For current information on these and other City construction projects, call the traffic relief
hotline at 984-8484.
