/ / I/ IL~~ / / L'~~ / <br /> L <br /> ~~~~~'L <br /> ~1~ <br /> Public Works <br /> Administration <br /> City of Eugene <br /> 858 Pearl Street <br /> MARCH 22, 1996 Eugene, OR 97401 <br /> (503) 687-5262 <br /> CONTACT: Eric Jones, Public Information Coordinator <br /> From Public Information Section, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> TRAFFIC ADVISORY <br /> BE ON LOOKOUT FOR CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC ON WEST 11TH <br /> Motorists headed to the Oregon coast to enjoy spring break are urged to be cautious and <br /> expect flaggers and construction traffic on West 11th Avenue in the area of Willow Creek Road.. <br /> Excavation work for the new Hyundai plant is well under way, and flaggers are stationed <br /> on West 11th Avenue about a half mile west of Beltline Road and on Willow Creek Road to help <br /> dump trucks safely make the turn at West 11th and Willow Creek. <br /> Trucks and flaggers are present on the highway from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 6 p.m. <br /> <br /> to 4:30 a.m., including weekends. Because this portion of West 1 lth is a state highway, the <br /> flaggers have permission from the Oregon Department of Transportation to control traffic on the <br /> <br /> highway except between 7 and 9 a.m. on weekdays. During those hours, flaggers are present but <br /> not directing traffic. <br /> The trucks are hauling excavation material to a fill site between Beltline and Bertelsen <br /> <br /> roads and to the Fisher Butte area west of Eugene. The excavation work is expected to continue <br /> for six to eight weeks. <br /> <br />
