April 2, 1996 <br /> SUBJECT: SKINNER'S CABIN MOVING TO NEW LOCATION <br /> DATE/TIME: Thursday, April 4 (call for best time) <br /> LOCATION: Just north of the intersection of Cheshire and Lincoln streets in <br /> Skinner Butte Park <br /> WHAT: The replica of the log cabin built in 1846 by Eugene Skinner, <br /> founder of Eugene, is being relocated from the north side of <br /> Skinner's Butte to a site much closer to the original. The new site <br /> r will also include a display of historic information pertaining to the <br /> Applegate Trail, which was created through this location in 1846. A <br /> ceremony commemorating the Applegate Trail and the historic <br /> aspect of this site will occur on May 18, 1996. <br /> A new site for the cabin has been prepared near Cheshire and <br /> Lincoln Streets in Skinner Butte Park. Reassembly of the log cabin <br /> is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 4.
