Tour guides will identify plants, offer historical <br /> information about Hendricks Park and answer gardening questions. <br /> Hendricks Park is located on the eastern edge of Eugene's south hills ridgeline forest. <br /> The 77-acre park contains an intemationally recognized rhododendron garden, 200-year-old fir <br /> trees and several hiking trails overlooking the Willamette River, the University of Oregon and <br /> the city of Eugene. Founded in 1951 through the join efforts of the American Rhododendron <br /> Society and the Eugene Parks Department, the 12-acre garden displays more than 6,000 <br /> ornamental plants highlighting rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolia and viburnums. <br /> The pazk is accessible by car, bicycle or bus. Follow Walnut Street to Fairmount <br /> Boulevazd, then east on Summit Avenue. Or take the #27 Fairmount bus to the Summit Avenue <br /> stop and walk up the pathway along Summit.
