EUGEN CITY COUNCIL <br /> WEEKLY NEW LETTER <br /> January 12. 1995 <br /> Earlier th~s month, councilors received individual invitations to the January <br /> meeting o the Oregon Transportation Commission, which will be held next <br /> Tuesday an Wednesday, January 17-18, at the Valley River Inn in Eugene. The <br /> <br /> ~ agenda includes a presentation on, "Transportion and Growth Management: <br /> <br /> ~ Design Pri ciples for Mixing Uses and Increasing Densities," based on the <br /> work of a University of Oregon design studio. It was done as part of the <br /> <br /> ~ TransPlan Update, which applied preliminary land use strategies and urban <br /> design principles to test saes within the Metropolitan area. The <br /> presentation will be held Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m. in the Umpqua Room. <br /> followed a no-host social hour at 6:00 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm. The <br /> Commissio 's formal meeting will be held on Wednesday morning. January 18 at <br /> the Valle River Inn. Bob Noble, formerly traffic operations supervisor for the <br /> Public Wo ks Transportation Division, started in a new position as airport <br /> maintenan e manager. In his new role, Noble will oversee maintenance <br /> operation at the Eugene Airport, including the terminal and airfield. In <br /> his previ us assignment, he was a primary public contact for a variety of <br /> traffic i sues. Councilors with constituent traffic issues are encouraged to <br /> contact T ansportation Engineer Dave Reinhard at 687-5218. <br /> Scott Pla ondon is the City's new urban forester. Scott joined the staff of <br /> the Publi Works Department in December to manage the City's urban forestry <br /> services, including the NeighborWoods program. He can be reached at 465- <br /> 2818. Sc tt comes to Eugene from Beaverton, where he served for 23 years, <br /> most rece tly as manager of Beaverton's landscape and urban forestry <br /> <br /> ~I programs. He has an interdisciplinary degree in management and science <br /> (arboricu ture and horticulture) from Marylhurst College and has completed <br /> advanced tudies through several professional organizations. For more <br /> informati n, please contact Bob Hammitt at 687-5220. <br /> - f <br /> On Wednes ay, January 25, 1995, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm., there will be an <br /> open hous at the Bureau of Land Management Offices, 751 South Danebo Street. <br /> The open ouse will present to interested property owners and citizens the <br /> <br /> !I proposed nhancements to the Fern Ridge Bike Path and Amazon Creek. The <br /> X2.25 mil ion dollar project is funded by a federal Intermodal Surface <br /> Transport tion Act (ISTEA) grant. The project will include an extension of <br /> the Fern idge Bike path along the north side of Amazon Creek from Bailey <br /> Hill Road to Terry Street. The project will also include enhancement to <br /> Amazon Cr ek by widening and planting native wetland plants. The goal of the <br /> enhanceme t will be to provide water quality benefits and improved habitat. <br /> <br />
