.~I~ A•
News Rel'ase Proposed Sewer User Fee Increase
May 13, 993
Page 2
$17.45 ir~ FY93. A similary family outside the city limits, would pay $14.02,
as comps ed to $12.96 in FY93. System users outside the city limits do not
pay a mo thly storm drainage fee.
Sewer user fees are charged to all users who are connected to the
regional ,sanitary sewer system. The fees help pay for the cost of providing
sanitary 'sewer and storm drainage services.
Sewer user fees have two components. One component is set by the MWMC
and is b sed on budgeted operating and capital improvement costs for the
regional '';Wastewater Treatment Plant and other regional facilities. The other
component. is set by the city of Eugene and covers the cost to maintain the
sanitary'sewer and storm drainage collection systems within the city limits.
The city~s fees are based on the proposed sewer operating budget and on the
capital mprovement projects listed in the Capital Budget.
Onl the city's portion of the sanitary sewer fee is increasing this
year. S~endsen said the primary reason for the increase is due to
implementation of an expanded inflow and infiltration program to meet new
federal ~ermit mandates established under the National Pollutant Discharge
Eliminat on System.
Call 687-5201 for questions about your bill. Call 687-5257 for
question about how fees are set.
