News Release Annual Leaf Pickup <br /> 'October 14, 1 94 <br /> Page 2 <br /> The fir t leaf pickup will begin in the downtown core area, Oct. 24 through Oct. 28. <br /> <br /> ' Crews will r rn for the second pickup Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. <br /> The W llakenzie/north Eugene area, including annexed areas in River Road and Santa <br /> Clara, is sch duled for collection Oct. 31 through Nov. 4. The second pickup is scheduled <br /> for Dec. 5 ough Dec. 9. <br /> Nov. 7 through Nov. 10, crews will collect in central and west Eugene, between the <br /> Willamette fiver and 18th Avenue from Garfield Street to Agate Street, and in <br /> Bethel/Dane o. Crews will return for the second pickup Dec. 12 through Dec. 16. <br /> South st Eugene, east of Willamette Street and south of 18th Avenue, will be picked <br /> up Nov. 14 ough Nov. 18. The second pickup is scheduled Dec. 19 through Dec. 28. <br /> The s uthwest Eugene area, which includes the area west of Willamette Street and <br /> south of 18 Avenue, will be picked up Nov. 21 through Nov. 30 and again Dec. 29 <br /> through Jan 6. <br /> Street without curbs and gutters are normally picked up only during the second half <br /> ~ of the sche ule. Bike lanes along major arterials will be picked up weekly. <br /> "Lea piles are the responsibility of the property owner until city crews collect them, <br /> so property owners are ultimately liable for any traffic hazard they create by placing leaves <br /> in the stree cautioned Street Maintenance Supervisor Richard Zucker. Piling leaves so <br /> they block bike lane or cause motorists to swerve into oncoming traffic are examples of <br /> unsafe con itions, Zucker said. <br /> (more) <br /> <br />
