Several prebid conferences and site tours are being scheduled during <br /> February nd March. Bids will be opened on March 29, and construction is <br /> ' expected o begin in April, 1988. <br /> According to Christine Andersen, director of the city's public works <br /> department, contract documents were received from the architects on February <br /> 8, as sc eduled. After reviewing the documents prepared by TRA and Brockmeyer <br /> McDonnel Architects, the airport policy committee decided to extend the bid <br /> I', period s hedule for an additional 12 days for final coordination of the <br /> document . <br /> And rsen also said the city is expecting a heavy construction season this <br /> year and is encouraging contractors from outside the area to bid on the <br /> project. <br /> "Eugene has an unusual number of large construction projects scheduled <br /> for this summer, so we will have fewer local contractors, laborers, and <br /> more <br /> i <br /> <br />
