News Rel ase Culvert Maintenance <br /> December 2, 1986 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Duri g a heavy rainstorm, if a plugged culvert poses a safety hazard, <br /> Public Works will waive the 20-day notice and take immediate action to ensure <br /> public sa ety and eliminate further damage. All costs will be billed to the <br /> responsib a property owner. <br /> Hamm'tt offered the following tips for keeping culverts open and <br /> functions g. Remove leaves and other debris from the end of the culvert as <br /> it accumu ates, especially during rainstorms. Replace any crushed culvert <br /> pipe, and keep vegetation and roots from restricting the flow of water. <br /> Info mation about culvert maintenance is available from Public Works <br /> Maintenan a at 687-5220. <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br />
