r

a
News Relea a City View Tower
November 2 1987
Page 2
The n w facility would consist of a 140-foot, free standing, galvanized
tower; a c ntrol building, six "whip-type" antennas; and one, six-foot
diameter m crowave antenna. For size comparison, Page said the new tower
would be o e-seventh the size of the 850-foot KVAL-TV tower.
~ The t wer would be unpainted, have no lights, and be enclosed by both a
chain-link fence and a secondary security fence around the base of the tower.
To limit visual impact, the new facility would be located at the southwest
corner of he reservoir and sited to blend with the surrounding trees.
The C'ty View site was selected as the best alternative because it meets
the requir d radio coverage, the visual impact is limited and will be masked
by the su ounding terrain and trees, the site is secluded, it was the most
cost-effe tive, and is already in municipal ownership.
Othe sites, such as Blanton Heights, were analyzed but not selected
i
because o interference from nearby radio and television towers and because
signals o other cities could potentially cause interference.
A fo mal public hearing will be held later.
