According to Greg Page, project manager, the area <br /> needs a n w state-of-the-art radio transmission system to provide a more <br /> reliable ublic safety communications network for city ambulances, the 9-1-1 <br /> center, a d the police, fire and public works departments. The new site <br /> would pro ide primary public emergency radio transmissions and would serve <br /> the Venet Elmira, and Crow areas to the McKenzie Bridge and the Goshen and <br /> Creswell reas to about Harrisburg, he said. <br /> "The current radio transmitter site is over 25 years old and is at <br /> I <br /> maximum c pacity," Page said. "It was build when Eugene covered a much <br /> smaller g ographic area. In fact, with our present range, the fire department <br /> cannot us the tower to reach medic units when they are outside the city. We <br /> need a ra io transmitter that will meet our communication needs for the next <br /> 25 years. <br /> more <br /> <br />
