Reconstruction of Sixth <br /> Avenue fro Jefferson to Garfield begin this summer. All paving and concrete <br /> work is co pleted; electrical installations and landscaping are still in <br /> progress a d will be finished by the end of December. The second phase cost <br /> $4.38 mill on, and Wildish Corvallis Construction Co. was the contractor. <br /> i <br /> ~ Durin the reconstruction project, the contractors widened 3.5 miles of <br /> street to 6 feet with four lanes of traffic, planted 478 new street trees, <br /> j poured 5.5 miles of sidewalks, installed 269 modern street lights, rebuilt <br /> 31 traffi signals and connected them to a state-of-the-art computerized <br /> signal sy tem, installed 2 miles of storm lines, laid 28,000 tons of asphalt, <br /> and excav ted more than 93,000 cubic yards of dirt. <br /> The edication ceremony is open to the public, and parking is available <br /> near the ark. <br /> <br /> i END <br /> <br />
