The
3
street is one of the city's busiest arterials, carrying from 8,000 to 12,000
cars a da between Willamette and Alder Streets, Lyle continued. Students,
business eople, and the public use 13th to connect to the University of
Oregon, S cred Heart Hospital, and downtown Eugene, and to Franklin Boulevard
is i for acces to I-5 and Springfield.
+
The econstruction of 13th is part of the city's preservation program to
extend th life of improved streets within the city limits. When an overlay
or other aintenance technique will no longer preserve the facility, the city
must reco struct the roadbed, Lyle said. "Thirteenth is now at a point where
+ reconstru tion is our only alternative."
Sinc the work is part of the preservation program, there is no cost to
~ property wners.
For ore information about the project, call 687-5228.
i
i
~I
I
i
i
';i
if
