Within <br /> the next eek, survey crews will be in the area collecting information to <br /> design t e street improvement. Construction is tentatively scheduled for <br /> this sum er, with completion by fall. <br /> Onc survey data is collected, the city Engineering staff will evaluate <br /> traffic olume, the needs of businesses for parking and access, and the needs <br /> <br /> ',I <br /> of pedes rians and bicyclists. In some sections, the roadway may be widened <br /> a few fe t to accomodate turn pockets and bicycle lanes. "However," City <br /> Engineer Les Lyle reported, "we are not planning to add an extra lane. At <br /> this poi t, we are anticipating minor widening of approximately two feet." <br /> Lyl said the city is still in the predesign stage and that once the <br /> prelimin ry design was prepared, they would begin meeting with business and <br /> property owners and interested groups for their feedback on the design. "The <br /> prelimin ry design shows property owners what we are tentatively planning and <br /> provides a beginning place for discussions," reported Lyle.
