POLK STREET OUTFALL WATER OUALffY IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT113984 -SCOPE AMENDMENT
1
special provision sections will be identified and preliminary edits made, for this submittal.
Conduct review meeting with the City to discuss 90 percent document. Review comments
will be addressed and incorporated into the 100% design if appropriate. Concurrence by the
City on the major design elements, such as design approach, alignments, etc., must be
received before the next phase of design begins. Design concepts will be frozen at that time
to proceed with final design. Plans and or specifications will include an option to phase the
construction so that the sanitary connections and the final access road construction could be
carried over to the following year if necessary.
Deliverables
90% SubmittaL•
Plans -11x17 pdf file uploaded to CH2M HILL ftp site.
Preliminary Design Report -pdf file uploaded to CH2M HILL ftp site.
Draft Special Provisions -pdf file uploaded to CH2M HILL ftp site.
Preliminary Engineer's Construction Cost Estimate -pdf file uploaded to CH2M HILL ftp
site.
Task 7.4 Geotechnical Engineering
Design and construction of this facility requires geotechnical investigation and evaluation.
This is primarily due to the deep nature of the excavation. Stability and dewatering
requirements of the excavation can have significant impacts to project. It is our
understanding that a geotechnical exploration was conducted in the vicinity of the site by
Geoscience, Inc. of Eugene Oregon in order to obtain information on subsurface condition,
perform laboratory soil tests on collected soil samples and prepare the geotechnical data

. report. CH2M HILL will utilize the information from the Geoscience Inc. data report and
perform geotechnical analyses as follows:
7.4.1 Existing Data Review
Existing subsurface information available within the vicinity of the project, especially
information from published geologic mapping, will be obtained and reviewed.
7.4.2 Geotechnical Analyses
Geotechnical analyses will be limited to the analyses required to develop geotechnical
recommendations for the vault improvement portion of this work. The following
geotechnical tasks and analyses will be performed:
• Review generalized soil profile developed by others
• Evaluate bearing capacity and provide recommendations for allowable bearing pressure
• Evaluate lateral earth pressures and provide recommendations for at-rest, active, and
passive lateral earth pressures.
• .Provide base friction factors
• Evaluate and provide recommendations for groundwater control
PDX/POLK ST BASIN PLANNING AND ENGINEERING SCOPE AMENDMENT DRAFT VERB.DOC 3
